SCORE Big With FREE Business Counseling!
The Service Corps Of Retired Executives (SCORE) is a volunteer branch of the Small Business Administration (SBA). This national organization is organized by counties and offers free business counseling through local Chambers of Commerce. The retired or semi-retired executives donate their time to mentor both veteran and first-time business people. The SBA tests eligible executives to ensure that they have proper grounding in business principles. Many of the counselors have a particular area of expertise and can be requested to help provide information in that area of specialty.
SCORE Counselors provide guidance in four basic ways, the most common of which is the one-hour face-to-face discussion. Beyond this, dialogue can continue via e-mail or additional appointments as needed. More comprehensive assistance is available through Saturday seminars held at Oxnard College. Workshops focused on aspects of business covered in the seminars are also available for further development. The schedule is available online at http://www.scoreventura.org/.
To schedule an appointment with a SCORE advisor, please call the Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce at (805) 370-0035 or click here to contact our scheduler.
